Barcelona is Europe’s fifth busiest airport with nine airports in Europe scoring the highest on the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Global Airline Performance Index. The prestigious Airline Rankings, created by Air Transport World, is the longest-running and most comprehensive benchmarking survey, which regularly examines the performance of airlines and airports in more than 100 countries. It highlights the relative strengths of airlines and airports and allows passengers to take stock of where to go in terms of air travel across Europe. The rankings take into account the entirety of an airline and airport’s network, including all inbound and outbound flights, passengers, staff and maintenance.
It comes as City Airport celebrates the first two flights of its new 200 aircraft parking position.
It is currently assessing long-term plans for the airport, which is the second largest in Europe, operating more than 4,000 flights a week to 60 destinations. The airport has a runway that measures 2.7 kilometers long, allowing for long-range flights across Europe, to the Americas and most parts of Asia.

The announcement comes as City Airport and City Aviation Group sign a joint framework agreement with the City of Barcelona in Barcelona.

Its two executive leaders will focus on the long-term development of Barcelona City Airport, ensuring its success and providing seamless travel for passengers.

Lagos has become the hub of all flights to the USA. The Americans were not just once represented here by Middle Eastern Air carriers. They used to have Middle Eastern Airlines as their feeder airline to the Middle East.
It is high time this ceased. Every citizen of Lagos should want American Airlines to go to Lagos, no matter how fat and rich they are.
Allow the Lagos Central Airport to be used for regular flights to America.

Commercial service is required at every airport in the world. Without commercial flights, it is impossible to expect any business entity to invest in the city of Lagos to build a better airport. The airport needs to serve an international hub.
Back in the 1950s, Lagos was designated as a city. City fathers decided that the main road linking Lagos to the east and the south was to be a direct link to the city from the West. That road has not been made better since then.
The Lagos State Government has to be aggressive about rebuilding the Lagos-Ogun-Delta highway so that it can serve both the north and the south. Also, the highway cannot support commercial flights because of congestion in Lagos.
In the 1950s, the Lagos Airport was served by First Nigerian Airways. It is what we called the Lagos-Kano-Ibadan route. But then, there was a specific port. Today, Lagos has two ports. Because Lagos has a deep water port, it has a significant edge over Singapore and Dubai.
As a result of their deep-water ports, Singapore and Dubai have been designated as hubs. But Dubai and Singapore are not making anything of it.
